Black Lives Matter

If you are white like me, here’s where we can educate ourselves on how to be good allies to Black folks and then act on it:

And here are some more places we can act on it if the action open to us right now is financial support:

(Why did I also tag this post “Jewish stuff”? Because, fellow white Jews, one who saves a life saves the whole world, and one who destroys a life destroys the whole world. Ve ahavta le re-ekha kamocha. Supporting the Black Lives Matter movement in Canada and the US and standing against white supremacy, in whatever way we are able right now, is a moral obligation.)

  1. Thanks for sharing Sarah. I feel that this is an appropriate response to the situation. I personally am not a fan of things like Blackout Tuesday. I don’t know that I have the capacity to help other than providing financial support, but I know that I don’t want to join the discourse just because everyone else is doing it. I’m not wording this very well but I hope it helps explain why I’m not rushing to social media to denounce racist .

    1. I get what you mean– I feel it’s important to say/signal boost in the ways one normally reaches people (hence the blog, for me) but if you’re not someone who posts on social media much in the first place (which I think neither of us is?), it feels disingenuous to jump in instead of listening to and learning from the people who do have important things to say there.

Hope you and yours are doing OK!

      1. As well as could be! Wish we had joined in on the treasure hunt but it was one of those “oh I’ll get to signing up next week” things :/
        Hope you’re okay too!

(Also I do post on social media often enough, but I don’t normally use it to take part in social movements / memes etc)
